Hilton Head golfing events have something for everyone
Hilton Head Island hosts a good many local tournaments to cover a variety of themes.
Each year, the Hilton Head Island Celebrity Golf Tournament held over the Labor Day weekend draws popular icons from television, the big screen, sports, news and music. Celebs like Tony Kornheiser, Carlton Fisk and Billy Packer were present last year to raise funds for several children's charities in the Lowcountry.
The Reilley's Lighthouse Match Play Championship attracts both professional and amateur golfers to play the seven nine-hole matches between two-man teams in a round-robin format. Last year's event featured over 280 golfers, from 20 States and Canada, competing in 18 different flights over three days.
Another well known event which pits pairs of siblings against each other at Old Carolina Golf Club and Old South Golf Links in May is the National Brother-Brother Tournament.
The Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce has a wealth of information available on all these and more local tournaments or events taking place from Spring to Fall on any given weekend.
Getting there is easy, as Hilton Head has its own airport, and the Savannah International Airport is only half an hour away. Ground service to Hilton Head is also available.
