Hilton Head Rentals & Golf can help you find the perfect rounds

The best part of Hilton Head Island is the array of choices -- of accommodations, eating establishments and, most importantly, golf courses.

For the problem of picking the perfect villa or house and the courses that best match your game, Hilton Head Rentals & Golf is the solution.

Go to their website, and you can narrow your lodging choices with laser-like accuracy. How many bedrooms? What section of the island? Even, what do you want to look at? The ocean? Lagoons? Golf courses? All that can be selected. The agency has 300 possibilities, from villas to mansions. All are fully equipped as homes away from home with flat-screen TVs, wi-fi, and full kitchens.

"We offer quality homes and villas. It begins with that," said Tom Ridgway, president of Hilton Head Rentals & Golf. "We pay tremendous attention and resources to maintaining these properties. Guests are greeted when they arrive on vacation with a property that is ready to go."

Hilton Head Rentals & Golf also has 24-hour response staff so problems, should they arise, can be solved as quickly as possible.

Okay, that part is done. You have a place to sleep and relax. Now for the crux of the matter. Which courses?

You figure your week on Hilton Head Island is going to yield five precious rounds of golf. But there are dozens on the island itself and more on the mainland. How do you choose?

That's where Mark Ridgway at Hilton Head Rentals & Golf comes in. His title is golf coordinator but really it should be golf master or wizard, something with more pizzazz. Tell him what kind of courses you like: long or short, wide or narrow, with lots of trees or sand or water -- even which designers -- and he'll come up with the perfect pairings.

"What we do well is provide golf packages that are low cost and that are memorable and exciting," Mark Ridgway said. "We can come up with some interesting combinations. People aren't familiar with Hilton Head, and they don't want to feel intimidated."

And if you ask, he'll tell you his list of "must play" courses: Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes and the Arthur Hills Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes. He figures those courses have some of the best of Hilton Head Island's unique scenery while laying out some challenging golf.

"Being a golf coordinator, that really assists the guest with the right course to play on. Others just offer a coupon," Mark said. "The packages help them with their budget and picking the right courses."

He also can back up with recommendations with 11 years of experience and hundreds of rounds of island golf.

"They just want an enjoyable experience. They aren't looking for the most challenging course, but they are interested in scenery. They don't want to lose a dozen golf balls and pay a lot of money to lose them."

The golf wizard, errr, golf coordinator can save you from such a fate.

    Hi
I contacted Mark Ridgeway to get a group visiting from Ireland onto Melrose golf club on Dafuskie Island..He said no problem on the basis that the fee for golf and ferry were prepaid at 124 usd per player...The group contacted him and made payment...There was no mention of the course condition and that the ferry was a small uncovered skip that was used to get them across(it was also late) the greens were in awful condition and the 18th green was washed away...Ridgeway has refused to return any calls...Clearly with all of the options available to this group of guys from ireland ..Some warning of the course condition and the"ferry" should have been mentioned in advance..This is not a good example of what the general service that operators in Hilton Head should be offering...A disgrace
